Sophia Payne

Sophia discovered her passion for writing while she should have been studying I.T. After a long-standing career in technical support, she finally decided to make the change and study creative writing.

She now writes picture book texts and young fiction, and tries to keep away from broken computers. Her writing often reflects her Indo-Caribbean heritage, as well as her motto in life: always be kind.

Her first picture book, Faruq and the Wiri Wiri, was published by Templar in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Inclusive Books for Children Award 2024.

Sophia was born and raised in the UK and is half Guyanese, half British. She currently lives in Germany, with her husband and two children.
